Vice President Bill Clinton?...

I was curious if former President Clinton would be eligible to run as vice president after serving two terms as president. My first thought was that it was unconstitutional as no president can serve more than two terms, and by becoming vice president you are first in line for the presidency if something were to happen to the president.
Turns out it is not that simple and there is no clear cut answer. But it certainly does pose an interesting question. The Washington Post tackles the debate in this article.

Yes it is clear cut. You may not be President for more than 10 years. If he took over less than 2 years into a term he would not be eligible to serve beyond that point and we would be in a constitutional crisis. It would be very irresponsible for him to accept such an appointment. Posted by: Dude at February 2, 2008 10:09 PM |
