iPhone officially unlocked, works with any carrier

Now all you folks who have made comments such as, "Dude, if it was on Verizon I would totally have one" can run out and buy an iPhone because it has been unlocked. You will have to wait until the official software launch by the creators at www.iphonesimfree.com. No word on pricing yet.

The unlocking has been confirmed independently by Engadget.

It's high noon, Apple and AT&T -- we really hate to break it to you, but the jig is up. Last night the impossible was made possible: right in front of our very eyes we witnessed a full SIM unlock of our iPhone with a small piece of software. It's all over, guys.
