Small business loans for the 3rd World

Kiva.org is one of the coolest things I've found in a while. The site allows you to directly lend money to small business owners in impoverished countries. Most requested loan amounts are less than $1200 and you can do your part by loaning as little as $25 to each business. I think I'm going see what I can do to add permanent banners to disjointed for Kiva.

Kiva lets you connect with and loan money to unique small businesses in the developing world. By choosing a business on Kiva.org, you can "sponsor a business" and help the world's working poor make great strides towards economic independence. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates from the business you've sponsored. As loans are repaid, you get your loan money back.
