The Wii is Just a Gamecube

Straight from Miyamoto's lips, the Wii is just a repackaged Gamecube with updated developer tools to work with the new controller.

Miyamoto:

The hardware is basically a GC. We’ve upgraded our development tools to new versions but, you can still use GC programs as they are. With that in mind, I thought we could remake GC titles for the Wii and modify them to work with the Wii remote so that they’re more fun to play.

I saw the wii at nintendo world (kinda lame) in new york. I really think it was producing an HD signal. Looked bright and crisp. The old gamecube basicly had a PC ATI graphics card. I suspect that the new WII will have a newer card.

At some point, computers are less about hardware and more about software.
