IMDb Flame War

I used to think that when two trolls met they created a black hole, but apparently they create an incomprehensible mesh of insults. Recently I came across an interesting discussion on IMDb. It starts with a fairly simple, if ambiguous, question about Fight Club which ends 85 days (plus 20-25 days if you count the audience to this ridiculous spectacle) and 256 insane posts later (well over 300 now).

Here's the initial question from theory980 whose thread is titled: "'Let me tell you something about Tyler Durdin...'":

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I don't understand what the hell was the point of the scenes that took place after this line and before it flashes back to them about to have their first fight.

Here's the response from michaelandrewheinz:

Just remember that the very first scene of the movie is actually minutes before the actual end, therefore, the narrator knows much about Tyler and is able to show us these activities. and it's Tyler DurdEn.

Eventually these humble beginnings become vitriol (actually it happened within about four hours, hahaha) and everything snowballs from there.

theory980:

You are not intelligent, obviously since I have to keep explaining things to you. Second, I asked a question, you answered with something that had nothing to do with what I asked. I asked what this scene had to do with the plot of the movie. Instead of explaining that, you detailed why the scene was realistic, which was something I already understood. I was hostile not because you failed to answer my question, but because your dumbass had to point out an irrelevant spelling mistake just to piss me off.

My first post might not have been completely clear of what I was asking, but some at least got it.

michaelandrewheinz a little later in the thread:

I just need to make something clear here. He asked a question and as the smart people here can see, my answer which was as follows, was writing slightly "vague" for obvious reasons.

"Just remember that the very first scene of the movie is actually minutes before the actual end, therefore, the narrator knows much about Tyler and is able to show us these activities"

HEY RETARD, MOST PEOPLE APPRECIATE IT WHEN YOU LEAD THEM TO THE ANSWER AND NOT JUST STATE THE FU CKING ANSWER CLEAR AS DAY. ANYONE BUT YOUR IDIOTIC SELF WOULD HAVE GONE, "OH NOW IT MAKES SENSE!!" FROM MY INITAL POST, BUT BEING THE IDIOT YOU ARE, YOU DIDN'T GET IT UNTIL IT WAS SPELLED OUT COMPLETE AND YELLED AT ME UNTIL I DID THAT FOR YOU. A SS HOLE!!

Now stop f ucking posting retard. You don't deserve to even watch fight club.

It only gets dumber folks. IMDb boards are usually quite civil but this particular thread is out of control. It's a funny read if you have thirty minutes to kill. Check it: IMDb flame war.
