How do you pass time on a weeknight?

I came across this thread on Metafilter and I thought I might bring the discussion to our disjointed folks. So the question is, how do you pass time on a weeknight?

Having the summer off from school I have found myself with an abundance of free time. I have recently re-picked up golf which I try to work on at the local driving range or golf course when it isn't 90-some-odd degrees out. I recently ordered myself a couple books I've been meaning to read. Other than that I find myself being lazy and drinking one too many beers (I'm actually having a Gin & Tonic right now) much like the original poster.

BTW, I loved this comment in the thread: "the way i combat going to bars so much is to try to date 19 or 20 year old girls that can't get into bars."

We rent a lot of movies, or go to cheap movies. I'm also a big fan of the early evening walk.

Ive started working out after work - lots better than dragging myself out of bed in the morning. We have a hiking club at work that heads out once a week after work also.

Most of the time when I get home I veg out on the couch watching Food Network, thoroughly enjoying the time of my life when I have neither homework nor screaming children. I also spend more time cooking.

Soon Ill be vegging on the couch with Carlos cuz he just got a job in Portland! W00t! 2 veggies are better than 1 ;)

Thursday is the best night to eat at Restaraunt Japan. I love getting takeout then and catching up on some tivo'd simpsons and law & order.

Also reading blogs passes the time. :)

Do they have a sale on Thursday? You getting takeout from the restaurant or going to Seafood Japan?

I used to never ever think about getting sushi from anything other than a reputable Japanese restaurant, but I've recently found myself enjoying the sushi from the Whole Foods in my neighborhood. Very fresh, very well prepared.

Speaking of sushi, we are going to be in Boston next weekend and I am going to try to steer us to Oishii. It is one of the few restaurants in the country that get a 29 on Zagat for food. Nobu gets a 28 and Oishii is about 1/4th the price.

I think that they get in their big seafood shipment on thursdays so it's the freshest then. But I get takeout from the restaraunt.

I've heard that the Fresh Market near my house has good sushi, but I haven't tried it.

Man that Boston place sounds so good. A byob sushi place, man you can't beat that.

Besides eating (I do sometimes try to eat the most irresponsible thing possible for dinner, just to revel in my lack of responsibility. Like waffles and ice cream.), drinking, and being merry, I like to draw. Lately I've been working on drawing Star Wars characters. I guess I'm just that much of a geek. But you have to practice with something. I also practice my banjo, if nobody's trying to do anything silly like sleep.

But now I'm in school again, so I guess I can forget all that for a couple of years.

Why do I have a feeling that "Star Wars characters" really means "Obi Wan", and "I'm just that much of a geek" means that these drawing are sexually explicit?

PS Karen: I'm coming to your hood in September. Dan has the lowdown.
