Pope on a Mission

I've never been a church going guy, but I've always been spiritual. I'm a wierdo in that way. I also never thought I would be emotional in the final days of the Pontiff, but I've found myself getting misty over the situation in Rome. Anyway, I discovered a pretty cool picture of our Polish friend. Here's Karol Wojtyla looking pretty damned cool. The way I want to remember him.

I found a good series of pictures online, that I thought you might like to check out. 23 pics dating from when he was a child to his last greeting on March 30th. Anyway, it's at www.welt.de and click on the right-hand side where it says "BILDERSPECIAL". I know the words are not in english, but pics are still good.

I've had the same reaction to the current health of the Pope, finding myself choked up quite a few times.

I think a lot of it has to do with the simple fact that for many of us John Paul II has been a constant figure in our lives. In the 25 years I have been alive there have been wars, changing political and social views, turmoil in the Church, and the rise and fall of political figures and even governments. Through all this change, there has always been one great man with an unwaivering message to look to.

For Catholics and non-Catholics alike, the Pope has been a spokesman for humanity and a father to us all. His passing will be a unmeasurable loss.

John Paul the Great?
I don't think it's unreasonable.
