Agencies Accepting Aid Dollars

Posted by brette at 08:53 AM in . | 2 Comments

I got this list of "agencies accepting contributions for aid to people affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Asia" from the New York Times. Thus far, the death toll is at 40,000 and expected to rise. I'm sure that things are just awful for the people who have survived and that they can use any contribution, even small ones.

I actually agree with Ryan's list as a prefered one, though I might remove Doctors without Borders because of some of my own ideological problems with them, and that is not to condemn their general mission, which is very noble.

I am so proud that the total in private American Donations has topped $200 Million. That is a much more genuine national gesture than just having the government steal the money from the citizenry and pass it on. Regardless, we are also first or second (up there with Japan) in government(stolen)aid, as usual when disaster strikes. As usual, the public and private donations won't be appreciated by the America Haters out there...but that's OK because it's what we do and it's right!
