Wyoming has 106% Voter Turnout

No conspiracy theory here, the above link and statistics are from the Wyoming Secretary of State website. Pan down to the bottom right hand corner of the table and you will notice two interesting figures. In 2004, Wyoming had a voter turnout of 106% of its eligible voters. In the 2000 election it was 101%. These are the only two elections with numbers like these.

Oh yeah, Wyoming is a red state.

I'm sure you noticed the column to the right that shows "percentage of eligible voters" being 65%. Conservatives, as a generality, tend to take their voting responsibilities more seriously. In addition, despite the dazed and confused liberal efforts to bash the majority of the electorate and write off the election as being stolen by rednecks, conservatives are generally more informed about all levels of government and what is going to be appearing on their ballot (which is why I would like to eliminate straight ticket voting, and possibly even take the party off the ballot).

Wyoming is not only a red state, it's a VERY red state. Even in the mid-term year, with no Presidential election, the registered voter turnout was 78%. This is unheard of in Blue states in "off" years. In years past the number was large in Presidential years (90% in 1996, a year when nobody was excited about Bob Dole, yet he won the state). It's not at all inconceivable that turnout of registered voters would exceed 100% in two Presidential elections where the alternative to the Republican was absolutely mortifiying to the roughly 70% conservative WY electorate.
