US to use microwave guns in Iraq

This has bad news written all over it. The microwave guns basically microwave your skin, creating unbearable pain that immediately goes away when you step away from the microwave beam. The US says there are no after-effects, but what about the long term? I can just see a generation of Iraqi's with skin cancer.

I don't like war, I am a total hippie. However we are at war. War war war. Its a bad thing with shooting and weapons and killing. The warriors over there are not trying to maintain some kind of free-speach, free-to-protest, democracy. Its chaos, its power struggle, its war. People that fuck with a hummer filled with 18 year olds armed with machine guns will be luckey to risk skin cancer. I wouldn't be happy to hear that US police departments get such weapons (although they likely will someday). War is forceful, get in its way, and you are at war too. You can see a generation of Iraqi's with skin cancer? hrmm doesn't seem likely unless A.) this thing does cause skin cancer, and B.) we blast an entire generation of Iraqi's with it. All this said, war, weapons and warriors are bad. We should quit it. Posted by: Dan at September 20, 2004 2:42 PM |

This sounds more dangerous: "In another development, the Sheriffs will be fitted with Gunslinger, a rapid-fire gun currently under development that will detect enemy snipers and automatically fire back at them." Posted by: polamex at September 20, 2004 6:31 PM |

yeah, I have been following that thing. I think that robots with guns are safter then rednecks with guns. As we all know from online gaming, snipers are such a bitch. this thing is a god send, can't wait till it filters into cyberspace or counterstrike. Posted by: Daniel at September 21, 2004 2:05 AM |

Microwave guns will be a great new weapon for American police to use to keep demonstrators inside Free Speech Zones. It will provoke much less public backlash than cops beating girls with sticks. Posted by: agent1073 at September 21, 2004 11:41 AM |

Here is a question. Will a little metal grid with holes in it (like the one on my microwave) protect me from the microwave radiation of these guns? What would happen if I used a mirror? Posted by: ryan at September 21, 2004 5:39 PM |

That's interesting, it probably would block it. Penetrating skin only 1mm deep, probably a lot of things would block it. It's just for crowd dispersal though. Ouch that would hurt your eyes. Posted by: polamex at September 25, 2004 12:20 PM |
