Europeans should be aware of the risks of climate change and prepare accordingly. Microman, I'm looking in your direction! Recalling the 25000 humans who died last summer due to heat, the British government's chief scientific adviser says this is a "bigger threat than terrorism". But then again so are car accidents in some cities and genocide in others... and considering a thousand US soldiers have been killed due to our reaction to terrorism in Iraq, the actual threat of terrorism to Americans, while leading the way in perception, is behind many things.

Ars Electronica threw another big party in Linz, Austria, with over 40,000 folks attending the unconventional digital arts festival.

Ars celebrated the launching of Creative Commons Austria by giving away 14,000 bottles of "open-source water" from the town of Hatlerdorf's public fountains. The fountains are managed by a local farmers' co-op founded in 1616.

What is open source water, I wonder? And is it free as in beer or free as in cola?
