Le Parkour
Posted by jt at 04:08 PM in sports . | 5 Comments
The key objective of parkour is to create a 'run' where a series of obstacles are overcome in a creative, athletic, fluid and acrobatic manner. The runs are typically composed of jumps, vaults, aerial spins, and wall runs, but the only real limit is the ability and creativity of the person undertaking the run.
Very odd street sport. It's much like the game Prince of Persia. You know, run up walls, do flips that kind of stuff. It sounds like fun. Parkour.
Added: If you like wierd sports check out Wheelbarrow Freestyle. I hope no one has posted this before.

Didn't someone (Nike maybe?) run some commercials a while back featuring this kind of stuff? Dudes running up walls and jumping off shit and whatnot? Posted by: ryan at September 1, 2004 4:21 PM |

Yes, yes they did. This video is kind of crappy quality and takes a while to load. But the commercial is cool. Posted by: ryan at September 1, 2004 4:27 PM |

Is this anything like freestyle walking? This looks kind of neat. I wonder if special shoes are involved. Why else would Nike be interested? Posted by: agent1073 at September 1, 2004 5:05 PM |

Hahaha, yeah. I think Nike probably was trying to sell specialized shoes. Try the new Parkour Shoes! That may work. Make up new sports where you need special shoes. Posted by: JT at September 1, 2004 11:31 PM |

actually, the shoes in the commercial (prestos, if i got the spelling right) are not good at all for le parkour. if any of you want more information on it, go to www.urbanfreeflow.com, probably the best english site for le parkour on the internet. Posted by: ben at October 20, 2004 1:12 AM |
