Connecticut to Argentina by car

I've thought about how amazing a trip like this would be for some time now. I wasn't even sure if it was possible. Turns out it is.

Last year, during a seven month period the author drove nearly 25,000 miles in a 1988 Toyota 4Runner from Connecticut all the way to the southernmost city in the world – Usuhaia, Argentina, passing through some of the world’s most beautiful scenery on some of the world’s worst maintained and most dangerous roads. He ended his 12-country odyssey in Paraguay, where he sold his car and flew home to the USA.

That's crazy! That would be such a fun trip except for all the driving :-P

Yeah, 25,000 miles is a lot. Even over 7 months it's still about 120 miles a day.. and you know they weren't covering 120 miles in 2 hours driving through mountains and on dirt roads.

But, I bet they saw so much you would never see otherwise.

That's true, it's probably worth it just to see some crazy shit.

Sounds fantastic. A lot of the experience probably depends on how well you're able to repair your vehicle. I know some people who had to sell their car before making it to the southern tip of the United States because their shit broke down and they needed bus fare to get home.

Yeah, I can't imagine what you would do if yer truck broke down in the middle of nowhere in Columbia.

...actually, in that instance I'd sell it for a bag of blow and finish the trip on foot.

I wonder if a moped would be more appropriate to get around... I dunno.. powered by gasoline, powered by foot, powered by coke. Maybe easier to maintain and not much slower.
