Rush Limbaugh's Response to Torture
Posted by ryan at 10:02 AM in politics . | 10 Comments
I wanted to go a day without politics, but this one is just too hard to pass up. From Limbaugh's May 4th show regarding the torture of Iraqi troops:
LIMBAUGH: Exactly. Exactly my point! This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation and we're going to ruin people's lives over it and we're going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You of heard need to blow some steam off?

Though I did not hear the comment, and I am sure there is a greater context being ignored, I can't defend that excuse. Those involved (specifically those who were in charge), should be severely punished as an example to the world. One thing I do agree with that Rush has said before is that I wish there was the same level of moral outrage form American liberals when our troops/citizens were killed and mutilated by the same ilk that are in the prisons of Iraq that they currently stick up for. Hey, all the networks are joining the Rumsfeld trial..I mean testimony, live from Salem...I mean Washington. Though this is a serious matter, I still find it amusing to watch the political carrion birds circle, waiting, hoping against hope that they can make our country look as bad as humanly possible for the good of the cause. "Oh man, another 288,000 new jobs this month, unemployment down to 5.6%...I sure hope this works"! It's quite inspiring! Posted by: Dude at May 7, 2004 11:54 AM |

Wow polamex...I have been feeling more "warmth" from the regulars here lately, but I don't think I wanna take it to that level. Posted by: Dude at May 7, 2004 12:05 PM |

I watched most of the testimonial this afternoon. It was pretty interesting, maybe I just liked watching Rumsfeld get grilled for a couple hours. If you watched this you would have heard that we haven't seen the worst of this yet. The photos that have been released are just a predecessor to much more graphic photographs and video of the mistreatment of prisoners. My main concern, voiced by many Senators, is that this was not dealt with head on by our government. Issuing a press release in Bagdhad about an investigation into mistreatment allegations was not enough to right the wrongs of this situation. It would have looked a lot better if the government would had stepped up and faced this issue head on. Instead the media broke the story and we have egg on our face. Dude, I really disagree with the assertion that American Liberals didn't have as much outrage over the killing and mutilation of the American mercinaries that were former soldiers. I thought that was horrific. A lot of my "liberal" and "feminazi" friends couldn't even look at pictures without getting angry or crying. Posted by: MicroMan at May 7, 2004 5:55 PM |

Kinda like when Rush spews the filth of trying to equate liberals to appeazing terrorists and being like nazis....but then Rush is probably high on drugs for his show anyway. Posted by: MicroMan at May 7, 2004 5:59 PM |

I should have been more clear...I'm sure you and your friends were outraged, but the outrage of the average American was not reflected by the left-leaning pundits, politicians, and talking heads to the same degree as the outrage now is, because there was no political opportunity as there is now. Liberals in power do appeaze terrorists, along with every other enemy of America and civilization in general. Again, that's not a knock on you or your friends who may choose to vote that way (other than for just not recognizing that reality), but that is the agenda you get from the typical liberal Dem. That's why foreign policy-wise a Kerry Administration would be a disaster. With Bozo the Clown as Defense Secretary and Huey, Dewey and Louie on the Supreme Court ruling in favor of the "civil rights" of every terrorist on the planet, with any luck we'll all be dead by 2008 and be spared the agony of re-electing him for another 4 years. The left-leaning pundits care enough about those folks to want to prevent them from having to go over there and die. The right-leaning ones pretend to care yet continue to throw more bodies into the fire. Having foreign support for your foreign policy would be less than disastrous. You know, not having people hate you because of your "freedoms". Posted by: agent1073 at May 10, 2004 1:56 PM |
