Garnet Hertz has some very cool art-bio-tech projects. He's done what we've all wanted to do: stuck a wireless camera on a cockroach (unfortunately the "posthuman" title is a bit misleading). How soon can we expect to have our own lives infiltrated by spysects? Perhaps soon enough if you live in Gaza -- Israel is already using tiny mini-drones to gather intelligence on Hamas. As cool as this project is I'm hesitant to see its development to be used against me. On the less paranoid flip side there are legitimate uses for exploring hard-to-reach places such as finding earthquake/disaster survivors.

Hahahahaha. I laugh everytime I see that cockroach with that huge ass camera on its back. I really don't know how sneaky that thing could possibly be. Besides, a roach motel is a pretty cheap method of counter-intelligence to combat this. Posted by: ryan at April 27, 2004 5:45 PM |
