Warez

[This may be more interesting to those who'd been involved in the warez scene as kids.]
From The Smoking Gun: Fox was apparently hosting a "warez" server run by a Fox employee that has Fox films "valued by the copyright owners at more than $1,000" (among other things). No wonder people don't want to pay for movies.
"I know from my training and experience..."

Didn't they finally get busted? That's what happens when you charge money for software... Posted by: agent1073 at March 20, 2004 3:31 PM |

I didn't realize Rusty N' Eddies had warez, but some quick googling proves you correct. I always remember seeing R&E adverts on BBS' for porn. Posted by: ryan at March 20, 2004 3:49 PM |

Yeah, I always saw their name/digits on all the trashy low resolution porn I'd come across, but it wasn't until later that I found out that they actually charged membership fees for access to their warez and that it was a fairly secret in the bbs community what they were doing.
