The Passion of The Christ

The Passion of The Christ came out today. In case you live under a rock, "The Passion" is about the final 12 hours of Jesus' life and has been widely criticized as being anti-Semitic. The film is so violent that it was given an R rating.
I'm curious if anyone has seen it, refuses to see it, etc etc. I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet. note: I have not seen it. I am always a bit skeptical when a movie like this comes out, fueling people to take the movie as (excuse the pun) gospel truth.
One woman died while watching it.

Roger Ebert said it probably deserved an NC-17 rating for it's violence. He said it was the most violent movie he had ever seen. He liked it though. I think I'll end up seeing it sometime this week. Posted by: villageidiot at February 25, 2004 11:28 PM |

Im with adam.. Im sure id be really upset after seeing something this violent. I have heard the following things from people who saw the movie so far: The scene where Jesus is being lashed is in slo-mo.. so you watch ~80 lashings over the course of like, 5min. Herod is portrayed as some sort of drag queen figure Pilate is made out to be nearly a saint. Ill probably be convinced by friends to go see it sometime in the next 2 weeks id guess....
