Bad Restaurant Conversions

Something I noticed a lot of when I first moved to Michigan: a lot of local restaurants dwelling in the obvious former shells of chain restaurants. Now there's a site for such bad conversions and the very first on deck is Al Noor on Washtenaw. This is where I had my first meal in Michigan, giving me my first impression of my new home. More blatant is Tuptim, which serves great Thai food but is housed in an old Long John Silvers will little change to distinguish it from the hot pirate hangout it once was. Also on Washtenaw, across from Al Noor, is IceScapes. All three were right around my old apartment on the same street.

I have always been proud of these conversions.

They are funny.
