I, Robot

The available-soon NS-5 Personal Domestic Assistant is able to shop for groceries and cook your dinner, mow your lawn, and even take care of your finances. But most importantly this robot is billed as "3 Laws Safe", no worries of violent robotic reprisal here. He looks an awful lot like the Björkbots in Chris Cunningham's video of All Is Full Of Love. But actually, it's just slick gimmicky marketing for Asimov's I, Robot, to be released on the big screen by Fox next year. Yes, this robot assistant is just too good to be true, yet. Anthropomorphic form + intelligence + non-human = yikes

Speaking of movies, I just came across a cool looking trailer. "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" looks like Anime meets fifties sci-fi. Big robots and flying tigers rock.

I saw that trailer and really liked the style of it, but otherwise it looked ... unrealistic. Goddammit enough movies about evil robots invading us! You know, some of my best friends are robots. What if we replaced all the robots in this movie with Black people. That's how we will look back on movies like this in the future. Also, what chance does humanity have against cool-looking shiny flying robots when all we have are old balsa wood planes. Unbelievable.

Dramatic effect my friend. Dramatic effect. Black people aren't 400 feet tall with laser eyes, except Dikembe Mutumbo. There may be a time when I overcome my irrational fear of robots, but that is not today.
