dude, don't feel bad. i work with NOTHING BUT ASIANS and i most DEFINITELY thought i at least knew chinese when i saw it.... or so i thought before i took this test. the faces they were making weren't fair. they should have had a straight face, or even a regular smile. i'll be the first to admit, i don't know korean if it bites me on the ass, but that's the only nationality i got RIGHT on the test. i think they should include sound bites of the person in question speaking in the language corresponding to the country they're from (preferrably science talk, or talking smack on stupid gringoes like myself) to level the playing field.

p.s. i got a 6. that's practically a hate crime.

A Korean guy that I work with has a three year old daughter that can distinguish between Koreans and other asians -- when she meets someone who is of Korean heritage she speaks to him or her in Korean, otherwise she speeks to him or her in English.

When I took this test awhile ago, if I remember correctly, I only missed two.. a Korean for a Chinese and a Japanese for a Korean or something like that. But Koreans and Japanese are pretty similar looking and can at times be indistinguishable.. maybe a little taller on average. Yesterday I was talking to my Japanese friend about how sometimes when I hear Koreans speaking in my vicinity it will sometimes take me a moment to realize that it's not that I can't understand their Japanese.. it's that they're not speaking Japanese at all.
