i always imagined myself as more of an "east cost" type of person, and this soda vs. pop survey has changed my life. from now on, i'll only live where people will know what i'm talking about when i say the word "soda". now, only to find a place where they understand some of the other strange words/phrases that come out of my mouth...

p.s. i think they should have a map of "underpants" vs. "panties" vs. "underwear", etc., now THAT would really make my day even MORE!

Old women wear underpants. Hot bitches wear panties. Dudes wear underwear. Brits wear knickers. No exceptions.

well i'm a sexy young lady, and i most definitely say "underpants".

Having non-cola soda-pop referred to as "coke" is disturbing, since I'd take the meaning more specifically. Apparently 750 out of 931 Dallasites answered "coke", and I honestly never noticed it when I lived there. But talking now to someone who's a native there he says he would say "What kind of coke you got?"

Thanks for the link. In my intro to linguistics course, we were shown a series of dialect maps of the United States which was like this but with different words. I find it interesting how sometimes Ann Arbor and Detroit will be categorized with Cleveland and Akron, separately from Columbus.

P.S. Hot bitches are hotter when wearing none of the above.

Hot bitches wearing none of the above are known as "sluts" in much of the midwest. You'll find them being referred to as "hos" on the East and West coast.
